ICEG European Center and the American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary (AMCHAM) organised a conference titled
"Critical Decisions After Elections"
Date: 16 th of June 2006.
Venue: West End Hilton (1062 Budapest VI., Váci út - West End Center)
The conference was hold in Hungarian, with simultaneous translation to English.
After the elections several important decisions should be made in Hungary concerning economic policy. The aim of the conference was to discuss the short-term stabilisation and medium-term adjustment issues by newly elected policy makers, representatives of the business community, researchers and economic analysts.
Panel participants at the conference included István Hamecz from the National Bank of Hungary, senior economists ( László Csaba, Éva Palócz, András Oszlay ), economic analysts from major investment banks (György Barcza), representatives of the business sector (Gusztáv Bienerth, Csaba László, Les Némethy).
The three discussion panels of the conference were organised around the following topics:
Fiscal Adjustment and Stabilisation
Convergence Program, Entry into the Eurozone
Competitive Tax Regime and the Flat Tax
