ICEG European Center organised a session on

"Supporting Outward Foreign Direct Investments in middle income economies"

ICEG European Center prepared a session at the 2007 World Bank Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics organised on 16-18 May 2007 in Bled, Slovenia. The main topic of the 2007 Annual Conference was "Private Sector and Development" and keynote and parallel presentations focused at various aspects of promoting private sector and its contribution to economic growth and development.

ICEG European Center organised a session on "Supporting Outward Foreign Direct Investments in middle income economies". The main objective of the session was to discuss the experiences of Central Eastern European middle income economies with supporting OFDI and determining its contribution to the development of the private sector.

Three presentations were delivered at the session. The first on global experiences with OFDI from middle income countries by Reinhilde VEUGELERS, Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) and member of BEPA (Board of Economic Policy Advisors). The second was given on the policies to support OFDI by Marjan SVETLICIC, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), while the third on the experiences with OFDI in EU 8+2 by Pál GASPAR (ICEG European Center).
