Sectoral roundtable: Tourism - development goals and realities

Location: Deák Palota (1052 Budapest, Deák Ferenc u. 15.)

Date 7 February 2008, 14:00 - 17:00

The development of tourism plays a prominent role in the New Hungary Development Plan of the government. Policies cannot be linked to any individual Operative Programme but they are included in a number of strategic policy documents. This ambiguity is also apparent in the statistical classification of tourism, which makes the measurement of the sector particularly difficult. The roundtable of AmCham and ICEG European Center aimed to discuss the impact of development policies on tourism. The participants assessed the suitability of government strategies and policies to the needs of market players in the Hungarian tourism industry.

PROGRAMME:

Szabolcs Erdős (ICEG EC): The background for tourism development between 2007 and 2013

Roundtable with invited experts:

Ákos Niklai (president, Tourism Hungary)
Ákos Probáld (head of department, Central Statistical Office)
Roland Mányai (head of department, Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development)
