Analytical overview of budget preparation and main fiscal processes of the EU

The research project, is commissioned by Hungarian Academy of Sciences and is being realized by joint cooperation within the partnership of Central European University (as base institute) and ICEG European Center (subcontractor).

The aim of the joint project was to determine of strategies, priorities and factors concerning new EU budget framework 2007-2013 that influence the negotiating positions and resource absorption conditions of Hungary. The analyses in the making will venture upon prove professional assistance in order to collect background information, rationales that will strengthen Hungarian national standpoint on the prospective debates in connection with reforming of EU budget.

The ICEG European Center prepared two studies in Hungarian language:

Long-run interests of main groups of countries in the course of alteration of common European budget

Prospective macroeconomic and fiscal effects of EU budget resource inflow during 2007-2013

At the end of the project, a one-day conference with the title "The Future of the Common EU Budget - A Hungarian Perspective" was organized where the results of the research were discussed.
