Background studies to updating Hungarian External Economy Strategy

Aim of the project:

Ministry of Economy and Transport intended to update its External Economy Strategy prepared in mid-2005 and in line with that process ICEG European Center prepared two background studies on the topics of export promotion and outward foreign direct investment.

Regarding export promotion, the main aim of the study was to prepare a paper which included theoretical, empirical and institutional approach to the topic. Thus, the study contains a summary of literature of export promotion, a review of the export promotion framework of the European Union and the international organisations, country studies which deal with the mechanisms of export promotion in the selected EU countries, an investigation of the Hungarian promotion system, and finally it also contains recommendations to improve the Hungarian export promotion system.

Regarding outward foreign direct investment, the main aim of the study was to prepare a paper which included theoretical, empirical and institutional approach to the topic. Thus, the study contains a summary of literature of outward foreign direct investment, country studies which deal with the mechanisms of the promotion of outward FDI in the selected countries, an investigation of the Hungarian promotion system, and finally it also contains recommendations to improve the Hungarian outward FDI promotion system.
